The Last Tigers of Sumatra

Deep in the rainforests of Sumatra, a population of fewer than 400 tigers clings to survival. These magnificent animals, the smallest of all tiger subspecies, face an uncertain future as deforestation and poaching continue to shrink their world.
Conservation efforts have intensified in recent years, with local communities joining forces with international organizations to create wildlife corridors and strengthen anti-poaching patrols. The results, while encouraging, remind us that saving a species requires more than good intentions.
The Sumatran tiger is a bellwether for the health of one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. What happens in these forests will shape the trajectory of hundreds of other species that call them home.
